Solas Energy Consulting is seeking a seasoned, bright, motivated, and conscientious renewable energy project manager on a full-time basis to support the US team. The position can be remote or based in Fort Collins at the US headquarters. Travel is required for approximately 25% of the time, including to construction sites. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in the project development and project management of renewable energy projects throughout the project life cycle – from development to construction, to operational hand-off.
  • Assist Solas in business development efforts to grow business, including client relations, proposal development, and attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Develop plans and estimates for projects, including equipment and construction pricing, labor rates and schedules, and productivity estimates.
  • Establish and review construction budgets, maintain construction schedules, review work scopes, and review and respond to RFIs, submittals and change orders.
  • Coordinate external bidding process required to procure goods and services necessary for all phases of project execution, including preparation of bid packages, evaluation of proposals, contract negotiations, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Support project developers in developing projects and assist risk management as requested to secure power-off take arrangements, financing agreements, equity acquisition agreements, and requests for proposals related to the projects/sites for which the Project Manager is responsible.
  • Work in partnership with development teams to assure a seamless transition of sites into the construction phase.
  • Provide leadership for on-site project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Perform commercial and technical contract reviews for construction and procurement contract.
  • Review, comment on, and negotiate project change orders.
  • Review and comment on progress payment applications.
  • Ensure successful QA/QC and commissioning processes.
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, and litigation, as needed.
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews.
  • Travels as needed to perform required activities (approximately 25% of the time).


Education and Experience

  • Prior experience as a Project Manager or Project Developer responsible for the development, design, engineering, and construction of utility-scale wind, solar, and/or battery energy storage projects is required for this position.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and construction project management of utility-scale energy projects, with 5+ years focused on utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • BS/MS in Engineering or Construction Management with a PE license and/or PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong contracting, contract negotiations, and risk management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within a project and multiple projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong writing, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to clearly present the company and business concepts to both internal and external customers.
  • Experience with project risk management and mitigation.
  • General understanding and ability to use project scheduling software and methodology.
  • Ability to interpret project financial reports and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Familiarity with engineering practices, construction techniques, solar, wind, and energy storage technologies, and regulatory issues required.
  • Ability to travel and work on remote renewable energy projects.
  • Self-starter and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Salary will depend on experience level.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act professionally as a representative of the company in all interactions with external clients and internal staff.
  • Maintain organized database for lead and sales tracking.
  • Maintain confidential electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  • Create and maintain sales reports and key sales metrics.
  • Support organization of all marketing collateral and digital assets to ensure materials are continually updated and accessible.
  • Support organization and coordination of trade shows, events, and marketing programs.
  • Prepare, manage, and verify expense reports and audit employee time entries.
  • Perform administrative functions in support of office and job-site staff.
  • Compose and prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Collaborate with senior staff, schedule, and facilitate weekly staff meetings; record, compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Respond to routine external correspondence.
  • General clerical duties including photocopying, filing, mailing, maintaining office supply inventories, and coordinating maintenance of office equipment.
  • Manage company insurance policies.
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding of employees and other HR processes.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure company operates smoothly.
  • Assist internal consulting and construction group with project setup including inputting estimates in time tracking software, assure contracts are executed, and assist with creating project budgets.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 2 years of previous office administrative and/or sales experience.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn and contribute.
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM system a plus.
  • Experience in commercial construction a plus.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and basis accounting knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping.

Compensation and Benefits

  • This is a full-time, hourly position. This position will be located onsite in Solas Energy’s main office in Fort Collins, Colorado.
  • $19 – 25 per hour, depending on experience level.
